Guess whose birthday we celebrated today?!?

Today is Johnny Appleseed's birthday!! He was born on September 26th, 1774. We read apple books, stamped apples in paint, and wrote  a sentence about our favorite color of apple. We read a story about Johnny Appleseed and made "pot hats" to celebrate!

Busy Kindergarteners!

Wow! We had another busy, fun week! In Daily 5 we are working hard with Work on Writing!

In Math we worked with 3-dimensional shapes this week! We learned about faces and vertices. On Friday we sorted snacks based on their 3D shape! We had spheres, cones, cubes, cylinders.

On Friday, we went on a tour of our cafeteria! We learned how the food we eat for breakfast and lunch is fixed! It was neat to see all the equipment they use- the mixer was bigger than the kids! We had to wear hairnets!! At the end of the tour we received milk and cookies!!

Thank you Ms. Tina for giving us a tour!!

SymbalooEDU

I have started using SymbalooEDU and LOVE it!! It is such a great way to organize your online teaching resources all in one place! It is so much easier to pull up this 1 website than have 5 different websites open on my browser! It is SUPER easy to use!

This PicStitch shows what the home screen looks like on your computer. It has "tiles" that you link to different websites, videos, etc.

This PicStitch shows what it looks like from an iPhone or iPad app.

You can create different "webmixes." I have a color song webmix, Nat Geo webmix, counting webmix, classroom routines webmix, etc. You can share webmixes and search other webmixes other teachers have created!

Check it out and have FUN!!

Off and running

We are off and running with Daily 5. We have built our stamina up to 8 minutes with Read to Self! We also started Working on Writing this past week.

During Math we have been working with a number of the week on Mondays and then working with shapes in our shapes unit. We have went on a shape hunt, explored shapes and determined how many sides and vertices they have, made shape pictures, and built shapes with marshmallows and toothpicks!
